Cibolo Nature Center & Farm
Cibolo is a “unique conservation model to protect our resources, study and learn from the natural world, teach and apply sustainable farming practices, and encourage the enjoyment and celebration of nature.”  The Center is important habitat for a variety of flora and fauna found in habitats such as spring-fed marsh, tallgrass prairie, riparian forest and live oak savannah.

Wheelchair Accessible Mear’s Bay Trail  1.0 mile concrete trail that “winds along the shoreline of Mear’s Bay in the Dutch Charlie area. Waterfowl such as Western grebe, Canada geese and great blue heron can be seen here during the more quiet hours of the day. Enjoy beautiful views of the San Juan Mountains reflected in the bay.”

Hikerwithcane? Forest Discovery Trail 0.6 mile is a steep, up to 12% grade, self-guided nature walk, but has a “compacted – firm” surface with no obstacles.  It is next to the Dutch Charlie Visitors Center, so you could ask there about difficulty.

As part of the World Birding Center, Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park is a world-class destination for bird-watching.   358 species of birds have been recorded within the park’s boundaries.

Wheelchair AccessibleRio Grande Trail 1.8 miles loop.  A .2 mile round trip takes you to the accessible two-story high Hawk Tower for a “bird’s-eye view of the canopy as well as a peek into Mexico.”

Wheelchair AccessibleDragonfly Loop 0.20 mile  a very short paved trail, but a pretty spot good for fishing, birding, wildlife and flowers.

There is some elevation loss/gain on all these next trails. Check with the Visitor Center to see if they are easy enough for you.

HikerwithcaneWapiti Trail 0.8 mile  self-guiding nature trail which drops drops down about 200′ before climbing back up.  There are 3 granite steps at the bottom which you can bypass without too much difficulty.  Be sure to use your trekking poles.

Cedar Ridge Preserve

Cedar Ridge Preserve
Managed by Audubon Dallas,  Cedar Ridge “is a natural habitat of 600 acres featuring about 9 miles of trails, native trees, grasses and wildflowers, butterfly gardens, limited picnic areas and wild mammals, birds, insects and reptiles”  It is 20 minutes from downtown Dallas.  Although there is only one wheelchair accessible trail, several others look as if they might be fairly easy.  The scale of the trail profiles makes them look much steeper than they are.  Call to learn more.
